In all our work with industry we are open-minded about the best mechanisms to work together productively. In the first instance we always suggest that we look at what you want to achieve and then consider the best mechanisms to fulfil that need. We have successfully used a wide variety of ways to work with industry including: contract research, EU Framework projects, DTI/TSB Technology Programme projects, CASE studentships, Engineering Doctorate students, consultancy, TTOM, and companies have made contributions to EPSRC work too. To get started please contact our Business Development Manager. Pump Primed Photonics Projects – P4 Each month the IoP will be accepting submissions for our new P4 scheme. The idea is to get academia and industry working together more quickly and more easily than before. Partly inspired by the TTOM projects run by the Scottish Optoelectronics Association, the IoP has won funds which will allow us to fund around 10 small projects to be run over the year June 08 to June 09. Scope: Projects will typically be worth between £2500 and £5000 and will be desk research, initial feasibility, or proof of principle-type work in the lab. Eligibility: All companies are eligible. How to Apply: Please fill in our one-page form, or give us a call and we’ll fill it in over the phone. We just need your contact details and a paragraph about the project you have in mind. Decision: All applications are reviewed at a minimum once a month by the IoP’s management team and the decision to proceed is immediate. What’s the catch? There is no catch. Obviously we would love these projects to lead to further and more substantial research collaboration and in the future, some support from your company, but there is no obligation. To discuss your ideas, please call Simon Andrews at 0141 548 4120 or email simon.andrews-at-strath.ac.uk (replacing -at- with @). |
